Mr. Colangelo 'Tip' Tolbert II

 Greetings from Colangelo ‘Tip’  Tolbert II, a musician, educator, & entrepreneur from Houston, Tx. Throughout his journey, he learned how to adapt to an environment & actively bridge people together. He is a goal-oriented individual with a dynamic personality and tenacity to match. In his career as a musician, he has traveled and performed in several states and venues in Texas, New York, New Jersey, & Georgia. While teaching in Houston ISD for 3 years, he has consistently performed & enriched the youth mentors through music & guides students into modern leaders in society.

        Mr. Tolbert earned his Bachelor's degree in general music & minor in communications from Prairie View A&M University. During his time in undergraduate studies,  Mr. Tolbert has actively participated in several ensembles including the university’s premier symphonic band, concert bands, jazz ensembles, orchestra, and pep band. Mr. Tolbert has also represented his alma mater in national musical ensembles. In 2018, Mr. Tolbert was selected into the HBCU All-Star Jazz Band compiled of the top jazz musicians of the 100+ HBCUs in the country. Mr. Tolbert was also a member of the 369th Infantry Regiment Band aka the “Harlem Hellfighters”. In this ensemble, they toured playing at several historical locations on the east coast commemorating the history of  World War II.

    Prior to graduating, Mr. Tolbert was blessed with an opportunity to give back to the community by teaching elementary music in Houston ISD. Mr. Tolbert inspired children to use the arts to express themselves & excel in the classroom. Learning musicianship in a structured environment has help motivate his students to work towards success. With his goal to enrich children through music, Mr. Tolbert formed his business, ’Tip Tolbert Music’ to help champion the brotherhood and advancement of young musicians. Through this business, Mr. Tolbert created a music scholarship that awards several high school music students for musical resources such as reeds, mouthpieces, literature, & other things to help advance the students skillset. 

Currently, Mr. Tolbert is pursuing his masters degree in music performance technology from Southern Utah University. Mr. Tolbert will be graduating the summer of 2023
